Spiral Notebook Sassification Tutorial

I think I am totally creating a new word this week. that word is sassification (maybe I will even add it to wikipedia?) Okay on to the topic at hand. I mentioned in an earlier post I made a bunch of journals for a local childrens home. I composition books and spiral notebooks on sale at Target. Well the spiral notebooks were kind of cute on there own:

It is just a journal size notebook with some fuzzy detailing on the cover. I was drawn to the color because I just love the name (goldenrod anyone?). It's the little things that make me happy.

So if you have a notebook hanging out in the some random junk drawer go grab it, dust it off, and grab the following supplies:

• Ribbon
• Fray Check
• Scissors

Yeah this project will take all of five minutes, but the results, well they will last until your three year old learns how to untie all of the knots.

I have to say my inspiration came from having a ton of ribbon lying around. I get on these kicks where I buy things because I am going to do a project, forget what the project is, and then just end up with a bunch of random supplies in my house.

So choose your ribbon. I picked some complimentary colors that worked with my goldenrod spiral notebook. (okay that last sentence was just so I could say goldenrod one more time.)

Cut your ribbon in three inch strips. I cut the ribbon at an angle for a fancier look.  Tie the ribbon into double knots every couple of spirals on the side of the notebook.  I really didn't have a rhyme or reason I just went with what I thought looked best.

Once the ribbons are tied apply fray check to the ends so that they hold their angle and don't fray (repetitive enough for you?).

Congratulations on rocking out a craft project in ten minutes or less. Now go write about it in your sassified spiral notebook!
